Earlier this month Miss Jenna Herbert, Year 4 Teacher at Kingswood Primary School, flew to Miami to present at the International Conference on Thinking – ICOT18.
With the theme “Cultivating Mindsets for Global Citizens” the conference aims to create awareness about global issues and the big questions that the next generations will inherit. The themes reflect the transdisciplinary nature of the conference, as well as the imperative for creative and collaborative solutions to ensuring a better world in the future.
On Friday 18th May, Miss Herbert presented a workshop called ‘Exploring Big Questions through Critical Discussion’ The workshop she designed is a chance for educators to take part in a practical classroom experience involving the exploration of philosophical questions through dialogue with peers. This workshop is a snapshot of how Miss Herbert runs a Philosophy session in her Year 3/4 classroom and focuses on teaching children skills in critical, creative and collaborative thinking.
Congratulations to Miss Herbert on her successful presentation and thank you for your continued dedication to ‘Thinking Cultures’ at Kingswood Primary School.
