All students Prep to Year 6 participate in Japanese lessons at Kingswood Primary School.

Prep to Year 2 students focus on cultural understanding, as well as being introduced to simple language. Students participate in activities that encourage an understanding of Japanese culture and language.

Year 3 to Year 6 students continue to learn about Japanese culture. Students also focus on developing speaking and listening skills along with the reading and writing of Hiragana and Katakana symbols. Years 5 and 6 students have an opportunity to participate in our unique Japan Study Tour.

The Language program is organised into themes and topics which are arranged to provide opportunities and activities for students to develop their language and cultural understanding.

The Japanese program is taught by a Japanese language teacher with the support of classroom and generalist teachers.
