Performing Arts 

Music

In Music students learn about concepts such as rhythm and melody. They play rhythms on a variety of non-tuned percussion instruments and melodies on tuned percussion instruments such as glockenspiels.

Singing

Singing underpins the music program. It also features strongly in our biennial school production (every two years). Kingswood has a Junior Choir for students in Years Prep – 2 and a Senior Choir for students in Years 3 – 6. Students perform at school assemblies and community events.

Dance

Movement and Dance are studied during Term 1. Students experience a diverse range of dance styles. In Production years, students learn specific choreography performed at these concerts. 2023 is a ‘non-production’ year so students will be participating in a Stomp! one-day dance incursion.

Drama

In Drama, students explore mime, role plays, puppetry, Reader’s Theatre and improvisation.

Performing Arts also provides opportunities for students to use and develop their understanding of the Habits of Mind as they learn to create, communicate, and collaborate.
